Year 6 Transition

Year 6 Transition

The transition between primary and secondary school can be a daunting time for both pupils and parents. With this in mind, rest assured that we are looking forward to keeping in close contact with you via our dedicated Transition website. The website is an exciting platform through which you can explore our school and what it means to be a member of our community.

The website will offer a chance to meet key members of staff involved in the transition process, explore the school prospectus and view our brand new school video. The site is full of subject-based transition activities intended to prepare pupils for life here at secondary school. It will be a platform that is continuously updated and will offer a means through which parents can communicate directly with the school and ask any questions that they may have at such a crucial time in their child’s educational career.

If you would like login details for this site then please email [email protected] with

  • Your name, email address and contact telephone number
  • Your Child's name and Primary school

Pupil packs will also be sent home via our feeder Primary Schools very soon.

A Supported Transition

Our transition programme begins in Year 6 and continues until the start of Year 8. Our close relationship with local Primary Schools enable us to identify, understand and support the unique strengths and needs of every child. A comprehensive programme of workshops, activities, events, and competitions take place all year, including opportunities for primary pupils to visit Woldgate School and use our facilities and equipment.

There are many opportunities for pupils and parents to meet our dedicated and experienced team of Year 7 form tutors throughout the Transition process, welcoming pupils and parents into the Woldgate Community.

Why is supported transition important?

  • To develop your child's confidence to preapre them for secondary school.
  • To ignite your child's enthusiasm for the new subjects and opportunities they will have at Woldgate School.
  • To get to know our teachers and staff, and to find their way around the school site with confidence.

Please read through the following pages, they are full of advice and information for supporting your child through the step up to Woldgate:
