Our Sixth Form

High quality teaching and learning

At Woldgate Sixth Form College, you are our number one priority. We will do everything we can to help you to achieve your future goals, and that starts by providing high quality teaching and learning. We teach lessons that are challenging and inspiring, in order to ensure you make the best possible progress. Our staff are experienced, passionate and enthusiastic, and they are committed to getting you the grades you need for whatever you plan to do next.

Supporting you in achieving your future goals

When it comes to your future, we have a proven track record of supporting our students to achieve their future goals. Whether you plan to go to university, enter employment, want to pursue an apprenticeship or further training, or perhaps travel, our team of Sixth Form staff will be able to advise you. We will offer you guidance with researching your future plans, as well as supporting you in your application and interview process for your chosen pathway. This may include helping you with your Personal Statement or CV, writing references, and preparing you for interviews. Last year, 31% of our students progressed on to Russell Group Universities (five times the national average) and many more went on to their first choice of university, training or employment.

Enrichment and Leadership Opportunities

We know what it takes for you to stand out from the crowd, and at Woldgate Sixth Form College you have the chance to develop a wide range of transferable and interpersonal skills that will prepare you for the future. There are a number of leadership roles available including Form Representative, Senior Prefect, Lunchtime Prefect and Bus Monitor. We have strong links with businesses in the local community and can help you to arrange Work Experience or a Volunteering placement. You may also choose to take part in one of the many clubs and extra-curricular activities on offer, take advantage of our fitness suite, provide in-class or mentoring support for younger pupils, or lead on a charity fundraising initiative.

Pastoral Care and Support

Our Sixth Form tutors are friendly, knowledgeable, caring and supportive. You will have regular, individualised mentoring meetings with your form tutor and the Sixth Form Care and Achievement Co-ordinator. There is always someone available to listen, advise and support you and it is this level of care and interest from the Sixth Form pastoral team that makes Woldgate Sixth Form College a very special place to study.. The transition from GCSE to Sixth Form study can be demanding, and we know how important it is that you have staff available to you to help you through any challenging times. Above all, we want you to enjoy your time at Woldgate Sixth Form and feel fulfilled and rewarded by the investment you are making in your education and your future.
