Our Sixth Form

Our Sixth Form

Woldgate Sixth Form provides exciting opportunities to continue your educational journey, to build upon your GCSE results and progress onto qualifications that provide academic rigour and challenge.

A key feature of our Sixth Form is our strong system of pastoral support and guidance which is available to all students and encourages them to achieve their full potential.

Universities and employers are increasingly looking for young people who can offer more than just a good set of exam results. They value applicants who are independent, motivated and versatile. At Woldgate Sixth Form we offer students the opportunity to develop a broad set of transferable skills.

Woldgate Sixth Form provides a wide variety of enrichment opportunities, with students participating in the wonderful range of expeditions, visits, internships and leadership programmes.

The majority of our students choose to enter Higher Education following their time at Woldgate Sixth Form with 31% of our students last year progressing on to Russell Group Universities (five times the national average). Through a rigorous programme of support, we ensure all students secure their future goals, be that University, further training or employment.

I look forward to welcoming you into our Sixth Form and working with you during the next challenging and exciting stage of your education.

Miss K Smith
Head of Sixth Form

Supporting You

When it comes to your future, we have a proven track record of supporting our students to achieve their future goals. Whether you plan to go to university, enter employment, want to pursue an apprenticeship or further training, or perhaps travel, our team of Sixth Form staff will be able to advise you. We will offer you guidance with researching your future plans, as well as supporting you in your application and interview process for your chosen pathway. This may include helping you with your Personal Statement or CV, writing references, and preparing you for interviews. Last year, 31% of our students progressed on to Russell Group Universities (five times the national average) and many more went on to their first choice of university, training or employment.

{Enrichment} & Leadership

Enrichment & Leadership

We know what it takes for you to stand out from the crowd, and at Woldgate Sixth Form you have the chance to develop a wide range of transferable and interpersonal skills that will prepare you for the future. There are a number of leadership roles available including Form Representative, Senior Prefect, Lunchtime Prefect and Bus Monitor. We have strong links with businesses in the local community and can help you to arrange Work Experience or a Volunteering placement. You may also choose to take part in one of the many clubs and extra-curricular activities on offer, provide in-class or mentoring support for younger pupils, or lead on a charity fundraising initiative.

Pastoral Care & Support

Our Sixth Form tutors are friendly, knowledgeable, caring and supportive. You will have regular, individualised mentoring meetings with your form tutor and the Sixth Form Care and Achievement Co-ordinator. There is always someone available to listen, advise and support you and it is this level of care and interest from the Sixth Form pastoral team that makes Woldgate Sixth Form a very special place to study. The transition from GCSE to Sixth Form study can be demanding, and we know how important it is that you have staff available to you to help you through any challenging times. Above all, we want you to enjoy your time at Woldgate Sixth Form and feel fulfilled and rewarded by the investment you are making in your education and your future.
